Readerwear has been selling reading glasses, both in its stores and online, since April 2001 and prescription eyewear in-store since April 2008. We now also design our own line of reading glasses in which we sell ourselves and wholesale to other retailers.

Let's Tap This Need
We recognized years ago that the baby boomer of today struggling with reading glasses was not like the senior citizen of yesterday– they demand quality, style, and value. The drug store was just not cutting it, so that's where we stepped in – filling that void between the drug store and having a pair made – by offering prescription quality, fashion forward ready-to-wear reading glasses at prices far less than prescription eyewear.
 

Wait, We Found Another Need
Our commitment to prescription quality ready-to-wear reading glasses led us to discover another need – reasonably priced, good looking prescription eyewear.

Many people recognized that a $50 reader from us was just as stylish, and of the same quality, as a prescription frame they had seen somewhere else for $200 or more.  Literally, people were coming into the store, buying our readers, and then going somewhere to have their prescription lenses put in. 

Once we had our “Ah Ha” moment, we added an Optician and an in-house edging lab to the business.  Now we can turn our readers into prescription eyewear, which means great value to in-store customers looking to have a pair of prescription glasses.  Learn more about our prescription eyewear here.

We know there is cheaper product out there, but we are not comfortable selling it!

Our full time Optician, with 35+ years experience, guarantees the quality of our ready-to-wear reading glasses and prescription eyewear. Many of our reading glasses are made in-house which means they are right every time.  Reading glasses that we purchase from other companies under go strict in house testing.
