These include: Scratch Resistant Coating · This coating reinforces your lenses, making your glasses much more resistant to scratches. · Ideal for children’s eyewear. · Let your optometrist know you want this type of coating ahead of time, as it doesn’t come with all glasses. · This coating won’t completely protect the lenses from all types of scratches so keep them in a case when you aren’t using them. Anti Reflective Coating · These lenses have a series of layers that block reflected light which reduces glare. · Great for night driving. · Eyes are more visible because lenses are thinner. · Creates a nicer cosmetic appearance. · Fine scratches are more visible. · Also can prevent water spots from forming and repel oils from the skin. Ultra Violet Treatment · Works like sunscreen for your eyes by blocking out harmful UV rays. · Polycarbonate, photochromic lenses and high index plastics have this feature built in. · Exposure to UV light can lead to retinal damage, cataracts or other eye problems. Anti Fog Coating · This coating eliminates moisture build up on the lens. · Can be applied to literally any type of glasses, including transition lenses. · Good for sports and situations you will be sweating. · Lens fogging is very dangerous, as it can take minutes to see properly. |
